Going to Court?

This section of the website provides specific information and resources for people involved in a case before the Superior Court, such as:

  • Parties – Parties are people with a case before the Superior Court of Justice.  This includes plaintiffs, defendants, litigants, applicants, respondents or accused.  Some parties may have legal representation (such as a lawyer), while others may be representing themselves (often called self-represented litigants).
  • Witnesses
  • Jurors

In addition to people involved in a specific case, members of the public are welcome to attend proceedings in the Superior Court of Justice.  Except in rare cases where the law requires otherwise, all court proceedings are open to members of the public.  This section provides background information and resources to people who are interested in attending proceedings in the Superior Court:
