The Ontario Court of Justice has extensive jurisdiction over criminal matters in Ontario. All charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, those that proceed against young people pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and most others that arise from federal statutes commence in the Ontario Court of Justice, and approximately 95% of them are also disposed of in the Ontario Court of Justice.
