Binding JDR – Notice to the Family Law Bar and Family Litigants – Simcoe, Muskoka, Peterborough, Lindsay, Coburg, Oshawa and Newmarket

Effective August 1, 2023

The Binding Judicial Dispute Resolution (Binding JDR) pilot project was launched in the Simcoe and Muskoka Superior Court of Justice, Family Court Branch on May 14, 2021. It has since been extended to the Family Court Branch in Peterborough, Lindsay and Cobourg effective March 1, 2022, the Family Court Branch in Oshawa effective June 1, 2022 and in the Newmarket Family Court Branch effective November 1, 2022.

This pilot allows parties in a family law case, on consent, to choose Binding JDR to arrive at a final judicial resolution of their case without the need for a trial.

For information about the Binding JDR Pilot, how to request and schedule a hearing, how to file evidence for the hearing, what to expect at a Binding JDR hearing, and for links to all the Binding JDR forms, please refer to the Practice Advisory Concerning the Superior Court of Justice’s Binding Judicial Dispute Resolution (JDR) Pilot Project
