Anyone attending at the offices of the Court of Appeal for Ontario<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> is expected to behave and communicate in a respectful manner.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Expectations<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>All court offices are an extension of our courts; all court staff should be treated with the same respect that is given to judicial officers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specifically, all individuals engaging with court staff and judicial officers are expected to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treat everyone with courtesy, dignity and respect.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate in a calm, civil and constructive manner.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid communicating repeatedly.<\/li>\n<li>Follow instructions from court staff and follow all posted signs and court protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Wait their turn and respect the order of service.<\/li>\n<li>Recognize that Court staff are required to comply with and apply the applicable decisions\/rules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Court staff cannot comment on or amend decisions or rules. In addition, court staff cannot provide legal advice.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Court of Appeal for Ontario does not tolerate abusive, discriminatory, or threatening behaviour of any kind.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Individuals who do not comply with these expectations or engage in inappropriate communications or behaviour may be:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Given a verbal or written warning.<\/li>\n<li>Asked to leave the courthouse building or premises.<\/li>\n<li>Denied access to in person court services.<\/li>\n<li>Reported to courthouse security or law enforcement, if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Referred to a judge.<\/li>\n<li>Subject to service modifications for repeated misconduct.<\/li>\n<li>Other appropriate measures as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Thank you for helping to keep the Court of Appeal for Ontario safe, respectful, and accessible for everyone and supporting equal, accessible and fair justice for all. <\/strong><\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" width=\"25%\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> Staff at the Court of Appeal for Ontario can only assist with matters before the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
