This amendment, which is found at s. 16 of the Criminal Practice Direction, provides direction regarding appeals and motions involving information subject to confidential informer privilege.<\/p>\n<p>(July 3, 2026)<\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" width=\"200\" \/>\n<h3>2023-2024 Annual Report<\/h3>\n<p>The Court of Appeal is pleased to share the Court\u2019s <a href=\"\/coa\/about-the-court\/archives\/#Annual_Report\">2023-2024 Report<\/a>. The Report provides an overview of the Court\u2019s activities in the 2023 and 2024 calendar years, with court data spanning a ten-year period. We invite you to take some time to explore the Report.<\/p>\n<p>(July 2, 2026)<\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" width=\"200\" \/>\n<h3>Amendments to the General Practice Direction<\/h3>\n<p>The Court of Appeal released today amendments to the <a href=\"\/coa\/how-to-proceed-court\/general\/\">General Practice Direction<\/a> principally concerning electronic file sizes, hyperlinks, and bookmarks and indices. Parties are advised of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The maximum file size for each file other than a video is 512MiB and 500 pages. If a file exceeds either limit, it must be filed in multiple volumes.<\/li>\n<li>Hyperlinks between filed materials are not permitted. For example, a party cannot hyperlink from their factum to the appeal book.<\/li>\n<li>Appeals books, compendiums, exhibit books, motion records, and books of authorities should include both: (i) electronic bookmarks with the tab number and name of each document in the file; and (ii) an index with internal hyperlinks to each document in the file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full list of amendments to the General Practice Direction can be found at Appendix A of the Practice Direction.<\/p>\n<p>(June 11, 2026)<\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" width=\"200\" \/>\n<h3>Amendments to the Criminal Practice Direction<\/h3>\n<p>The Court of Appeal released today two amendments to the <a href=\"\/coa\/how-to-proceed-court\/practice-directions-guidelines\/criminal\/\">Criminal Practice Direction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>First, ss. 6.1.5(2) and 6.2.3(2) are amended to set out the process for requesting additional time for oral argument if an application for leave to appeal a decision of the Summary Conviction Appeal Court is granted.
